Short Synopsis
Clara is a young and pretty woman who is in Leon´s (Nicaragua) municipal jail for the murdering her stepfather. Through her conversations and declarations made to her attorney and relatives, we gradually learn about her sordid past and her reasons behind the alleged murder.
Clara was born and raised in a brothel in Chinandega, which leads her to prostitution.
The story twists when she meets a priest who wants to help her to get out of this situation, but at the same time the story has an unexpected ending
Clara assumes responsibility for the murder of her stepfather on the account that he has raped her since she was young. Her attorney tries to convince to plead “temporary insanity”; however, she wants her action to become a precedent towards sexual abuse against minors. The end is left open to the public’s interpretation.
Sinopsis Corta
Clara es una joven nicaragüense que esta presa en las cárceles de León, por asesinar a su padrastro. A través de sus declaraciones y pláticas que sostiene con su abogado y familiares nos damos cuenta del sórdido pasado que ha vivido y las causas que la llevan al supuesto crimen.
Clara nace y vive en un prostíbulo de León. Jacinto su padrastro abusa de ella sexualmente desde los 6 años y continua hasta que la historia tiene un giro cuando conoce a un sacerdote que quiere ayudarla a salir de esa situación. La historia, al mismo tiempo tiene un desenlace trágico, Jacinto muere trágicamente al tratar de violarla una vez más.
Clara asume con valentía el crimen contra su padrastro después de haber sido violada desde pequeña y quedar embarazada por este. Su abogado quiere convencerla que se declare con “Locura Transitoria” sin embargo ella quiere sentar un ejemplo de denuncia, ante el abu- so sexual contra menores. Al final Clara es declarada inocente ante las pruebas de que Jacinto murió en el forcejeo con Clara y no fue
asesinado.

" Transitory Insanity" Sinopsis
Sinopsis
Clara, is a young Eight-Teen year old girl who is in jail in Leon for the pressumed murder of her stepfather, Jacinto.She was sexually abused since she was Six years old ,and forced to live as a young prostitute.
From the jail through flashbacks she reflects about her life,how bad her mother treated her,and the life she was forced to live in.Jacinto comes to her mind pretty often,she remembers all the days he raped her,and took away the freedom ,and happiness a young girl is supposed to have.She remembered all the men that used her,like the farmer who loved her as a her own “daughter”.At night,she gets mad because she didnt stand up for herself ,for letting Jacinto ,and the other men rape her.She will feel useless if she declares herself with “Transitory Insasity” because she wont acomplish her goal ,and show other people than when these sort of problems happen you should move on and fight for yourself.
The movie starts with the end ,when the Police take Clara ,and send her to jail.Now the movie moves on from past to present through Claras flashbacks.There are various elements that are used in the story for her to remember,for example,Clara always counted the tiles of the roof when she was being raped by her stepfather. In jail she also counted the bars in her window... One,two,three,four,five.When she left school she counted the black ,and white squares on the floor,carefully trying not to step the black ones,at the end of the movie she does the same,when she leaves the jail she is inmediatly attracted to the squares on the sidewalk,but this time she was only stepping on the white squares.
The courtains in her room are also an element that is used in the movie to join the past with the present.
At the begining of the movie we can see a room with two beds ,separated by a transparent courtain,in one bed Jacinto is raping Sofia brutally,and in the bed...Clara is all alone.Jacinto pases to the other bed,at first he tells Clara that everyting is going to be ok,while he calmy touches her entire,virgin body.
Another important symbol in the movie is the blood in the beggining ,Clara is bathed in Jacintos blood.When she is being taken to jail she tries to wash away the blood,but she finds it very hard thanks to her anger and she faints.Clara is pregnate and has an abortion where she still has Jacinto blood,but also part from her dead child.She feels stained,dirty with Jacintos blood that follows her whereever she goes,but phisycally she managed to wash it away.
All the symbols are repeated in the past as in the present.
The present takes part in the jail where she converses with her lawyer and family. Through the talks both her,lawyer,and family reach to the conclusion that she ,and her mother have been victims of teh circumstances,there is a person to blame ,Jacinto, but there are also other people guilty and victims inside the story.
Clara is arranged to be comdemned unjustly and suffer the consequences of jail for life,but if this act helps other women that have suffered the same humiliation or at least help some women who are about to be raped.She wants to prove that she killed Jacinto with premeditation,that she wanted to take revenge of the irreparable damage in her life , and she feels if she declares herself with “Transitory Insanity” she would take a huge amount of weight from her shoulders for something she considers heroic.The problem is if she holds her position it will take her to sentece a could not help other women as she wishes.
At this moment in the movie, Claras case has becomed a national discussion.People of all types have talked in the media, and for this reason she feels obligated to do “something positive” with her life and show an example of courage by taking full responsibility towards Jacintos death.
In jail, Clara receives an unexpected visit of a lawyer that results to be Ramiro,an old friend. Ramiro wants to convinse Clara that if she wants to be an example for many women she cannot declare herself guilty.Ramiro thinks that its better for Clara to declare herself with “Intrasitory Insanity”,nevertheless at the end of the movie in the court room,Morena appears, her best friend when she was a child.Morena declares that she saw everything the day that Jacinto died.She said that when Clara was trying to get rid of Jacinto,Jacinto accidentaly stabed himself with the knife Clara had in her hand.Now this way Clara left unguilty because it was “self-defense”.
She received another important visit,this time her Aunt Nelly came.The story that Aunt Nelly tells Clara changes the perspective she saw her mother and the world: She never knew that she had relatives living close to her,neither who her dad was...the one she never met.Aunt Nelly and Clara talk for hours,thanks to this conversation she knew more things about her family: Aunt Nelly told Clara that she was her moms twins.When Sofia died,her mother died at birth,and her father gave Sofia all the blame.Thanks to that,Sofia grew up in a world without love and she escaped with a truckdriver named Jacinto.Now Clara got the bad news,and found out that Jacinto was her father.
Blasting into tears,Clara cried alone in her cell all alone for the entire night.
Clara meats Adela, a cop who works at the jail who takes interest in Clara,because her past is very similar to Claras.She married a Sandinista Commander.She has a girl with this man, and she undestands women who have pased what Clara is passing right now.
Adela becomes a real close friend of Clara throughout her life in jail.
Clara is alone in her cell,she smokes nervously, and the smoke makes her remember her mom,her twelve years ago and her stepfather Jacinto in the stripclub...Clara is in her moms lap,she is smoking,she falls asleep,the cigar falls in her pelvis and her dress catches fire...Jacinto undresses Clara,puts some cream on her wounds,but takes advantage and rapes her,her screaming are confused with the ones of the burn.
The stripclub is full of prostitutes an clients, the atmosphere is full of smoke and you can hear the “ranchera” music coming from a jukebox.Clara exels from the other women thanks to her beauty an dher simplicity.Morena,her best friend is confident and sticks to her and watches Jacinto very carefully. Sofia,Claras mother, starts to laugh without stoping,it was if she was almost screaming,the cocaine, and the alcohol were giving Sofia its effects.In one of those attempts Sofia falls to the floor dead,nobody notices,only Clara that runs to her mother,hugs her, and cries.At the funeral, Jacinto takes Clara to his office and rapes her...again, and again.From now on, Clara oficially becomes Jacintos new wife,and he makes her a prostitue for other clients.
In jail,Ramiro enters Claras cell with a bunch of newspapers,he is very content with all the people who are suppoting her. Even the group of Women against Violence is with her,the entire town is with her,It is necessary to take advantage of the situation and blame it on your mother,anyway she is dead...Ramiro tris to touch Clara y he finds a terrible reaction in Clara, who is very sensitive at the time.Shes pregnant of her own father product of all type of violations!
Clara is taken to the infirmary where she loses alot of blood due to the abortion.In her delirium she confuses the present with the past,the death of her mother repeats itself, with a bitter face, without her nice smile Jacinto and the clients become deformed and turn around her, the laughter become deafening sounds,until we see her walking alone through the streets of Leon.
In a sunny day, Clara decides to go for a walk and arrives at a park full of kids, trees and specially, happiness. She looks happy for the first time, a boy approaches to Clara, they are playing “Hide and Seek” , she wants to play with them,but she is rejected by the mothers...
She keeps on walking and finds a church,and smells an incense aroma.She hears an organ music,she enters and observes the choir singing a “purisima” song.
Clara is petrifiedwhile she hears the music,eveyone leaves the church, and she is left alone. A young priest sees her, and starts talking to her. They talk about Claras harsh life while they walk through the entire city.The priest tells her to leave that horrible life, it doesnt mean that if she was born in that atmosphere she has to keep on living like that forever,and he knows a place in Dolores where some priest can help her.
Clara accepts the priest offer and goes back to the stripclub to get her belongings ,when she enters her room Jacinto who is drunk is waiting for her,he wants to rape her,a fight starts.. at the endss he dies with a knife close to his heart.
We return to the jail,Clara is still in the infirmary and she has a delirious dream of her and her mother in a hill full of flowers,they are very happy.
Finally she has been able to find her own reality, the one of her mother and somehow to obtain a little peace.
Meanwhile the jury is declaring Clara innocent of all fault because Jacinth died in a struggle and the fight was considered as “self-defense”.
Ramiro takes the control of the judgment…Clara met Ramiro at the stripclub. Ramiros dad wants Clara to make Ramiro a man and have sex with him. In the room Ramiro already explained the situation to Clara, they talk, dance and become close friends.
Ramiro is studying laws in Leon but his passion is music and has a set where he touches the piano. Clara goes to a concert in Leon where Ramiros band appears .
For the first time Clara feels like a young person, integrated to a group and in a free situation where she expresses her feelings. Ramiro and his friends go away after the concert to Poneloya, a beach near Leon and Clara experiments for the first time what is to have sex with someone she loves.
In a bonfire where they all sing and declaim poems, Clara finds out that Ramiro is going to another country to finish his studies.
When Ramiro returns graduated and reads about Claras case through the newspaper, he goes to the jail and he obtains a favorable resolution for Clara. In the newpaper interviews of all type,some people think that “what the girl did was wrong” ,and some people said “the man deserved it”.
Within all the noise of people, Ramiro responds in a professional way to all the case, the laws applied, the tests of witnesses and that Morena saw where it is clear that Jacinto was stabbed by the knife in the struggle.
At this moment Clara is very weak of health, does not have desire to live, feels that her life finishes, that It is the moment to arrive at a end where only the important thing is to reach a happy encounter with her mother. To vindicate that her mother, Sofía, were product of a deceit and that she also was part of all this plot, gives a freedom sense him to assume its own life and to follow ahead.
It is at this moment that Clara assumes her responsibility before the facts, becomes aware from her past and she pardons her mother. It is the moment of the liberation, and to assume the future with hope. Ramiro is with her and when he is giving her the good news in court, he provides Clara with more strenght.
In the end Clara leaves the jail where she waits for her friends, including Ramiro.She jumps bricks of two in two as she were accustomed to do when she was a girl, this way again mix images of the past with the present.
In this film you can see a real situation, that happens everywhere in the world in this case it is in Leon, Nicaragua, and the characters act as their nature, but it is a story that could happen in any place, and at any time, because in all the parts of the world there are defenseless people who are manipulated, or by economic or emotional reasons. The situation is always the same, the smaller ones are used to satisfy desire with others and a legislative apparatus, that not this based on but the defenseless ones. In the life always there is hope and this film gives one, that in spite of all the people we have the possibility of leaving in front of the adverse circumstances.

CURRICULUM VITAE AND FILMOGRAPHY
Rossana Lacayo , Managua (Nicaragua) 1956 , High School Graduate from Madeira School (Virginia) United States 1975, and Graduate in Economics from Duke University (North Carolina) United States, 1979.
Photographer and Documentary Specialist, member of the Nicaraguan Cinematography Association (ANCI), Cultural Forum and Nicaraguan Institute for Hispanic Culture (INCH). 1996 Golden Gueguense Award granted by the Nicaraguan Film Club, and 1982 National Photography Award.
She joined the Nicaraguan Film Institute (INCINE) in 1980 as news program producer and director of documentary films. Set photography in the following movies: El Espectro de la Guerra (‘The Spectrum of War’) (1988) directed by Ramiro Lacayo (Nicaragua) and Sandino (1989) directed by Miguel Littin (Chile). She founded the independent film production company “GOTA FILMS” in 2003.

Photographer and Documentary Specialist, member of the Nicaraguan Cinematography Association (ANCI), Cultural Forum and Nicaraguan Institute for Hispanic Culture (INCH). 1996 Golden Gueguense Award granted by the Nicaraguan Film Club, and 1982 National Photography Award.
She joined the Nicaraguan Film Institute (INCINE) in 1980 as news program producer and director of documentary films. Set photography in the following movies: El Espectro de la Guerra (‘The Spectrum of War’) (1988) directed by Ramiro Lacayo (Nicaragua) and Sandino (1989) directed by Miguel Littin (Chile). She founded the independent film production company “GOTA FILMS” in 2003.

sinopsis " Locura Transitoria"
Sinopsis
Clara, una muchacha de 18 años esta presa en una cárcel de León por el
presunto asesinato de Jacinto, su padrastro. Ella fue abusada sexualmente
desde los 6 años y forzada a la ejercer la prostitucion toda su juventud.
Desde la cárcel a través de “flash back” reflexiona sobre su vida, la responsa-
bilidad de su madre en el desamor y la indeferencia. En la posibilidad de que
ella haya sido la causante directamente de su suplicio, en la poca atención
que se dio y por dejar que las cosas pasaran de un modo repudiable para ella,
en su vida….piensa en Jacinto, de todas las veces que la violo, la intimido
y quito el sabor de su niñez. De todos los hombres que la usaron, del
ganadero que la quería como “hija”. Y de su misma culpabilidad, al no poder
oponerse a esa vida, al no poder enfrentar a su madre en la debilidad ante
Jacinto. Al sentirse inútil ante la decisión de declarase con “Locura Transitoria”
o enfrentar un pasado y un presente con valentía y sobre todo para demostrar
que si se puede denunciar a estos agresores y salir adelante y con la frente en
alto.
La película comienza con el final cuando la policía la lleva presa y
continuamente va cambiando del pasado al presente a través de flash back,
inducidos por medio de símbolos que unen y tejen la historia. Hay varios
elementos que se utilizan en la historia para que den pie a sus recuerdos, por
ejemplo, Clara siempre cuenta las regías del techo cuando ella esta siendo
violada por su padrastro ya en la cárcel ella también cuenta los barrotes de su
ventana.. Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco. Cuando sale del colegio en su niñez
cuenta los ladrillos blancos y los negros, teniendo cuidado de no pisar los
negros, al final de la película ella hace lo mismo, al salir de la cárcel inmedia-
tamente es atraída por los ladrillos de la acera en León donde pisa solo los
blancos evitando en todo momento tocar los negros.
Las cortinas también son un elemento que se utilizan en la película para unir el
pasado con el presente.
Al principio de la película se muestra una habitación con dos camas solo
separadas por una cortina transparente, en una duermen Jacinto y Sofía y en la
otra cama …Clara. Jacinto pasa de una cama a otra a través de la débil cortina,
que separa ambas camas.
También en la enfermería de la cárcel la cortina juega un papel importante para
los recuerdos de Clara cuando ella delira en la cama y confunde el movimiento
de la cortina que es real en ese momento con la cortina que dividía la cama de
ella y su mama.
Otro símbolo muy importante en la película es la “sangre” al comienzo, Clara
esta rodeada de sangre resultado de la muerte de Jacinto, cuando es llevada
a la cárcel quiere quitarse con rabia esta sangre pero le resulta imposible y se
desmaya, esta embarazada y después tiene un aborto donde también la san-
gre es parte de Jacinto pero por medio de su hijo. Se siente manchada, sucia
con la sangre de Jacinto que la persigue, aunque físicamente logre quitársela,
inconscientemente la siente impregnada en su piel es como un castigo que le
recuerda siempre a Jacinto.
Todos los símbolos se repiten tanto en el pasado como en el presente dándole
a la historia un sentido de redondez el comienzo se une con el final y viceversa
El presente se muestra vía conversaciones con su abogado y familiares que
la visitan en la cárcel y a través de ellos va hilando el rompecabezas de su vida
llegando a la conclusión que tanto ella como su madre han sido victimas de las
circunstancias, hay un culpable, Jacinto, pero también hay otros culpables y
victimas dentro de la historia.
Clara esta dispuesta a ser condenada injustamente y sufrir las consecuencias
de cárcel por el resto de su vida si con este acto logra ayudar a otras mujeres
que han sufrido la misma humillación o por lo menos salvar a una que este a
punto de ser violentada en su derechos más íntimos. Ella quiere demostrar que
lo mato con premeditación, que quiso vengarse de él por el daño irreparable en
su vida y siente que declararse con “ Locura transitoria ” le quitaría peso a algo
que considera como heroico. El problema esta en que mantener su posición la
lleva a la condena y no podría ayudar a otras mujeres como ella desea.
En este momento de la película, el caso de Clara se ha convertido en un tema
de discusión nacional. Gente de todo tipo opinan en los medios y es por esta
razón que se siente obliga a hacer “algo positivo” con su vida y dar ejemplo de
valentía, asumiendo la responsabilidad de la muerte de Jacinto.
En la prisión Clara recibe la visita de un abogado que resulta sorpresivamente
ser Ramiro, su amigo años otras. Ramiro quiere convencerla de que si quiere
ser un ejemplo no puede declararse culpable, pues de esta manera nadie se
atrevería a confrontar a su verdugo por lo que le sugiere la salida mas fácil,
declararse con “Locura Transitoria” , sin embargo ya al final de la película en
el juicio aparece Morena, su amiga y confidente en el prostíbulo.
Morena declara que ella vio todo lo ocurrido el día que murió Jacinto y que en
el forcejeo de ambos, el se enterró el pica hielo y que no fue Clara quien lo
mato que todo fue circunstancial. De esta manera Clara queda libre pues todo
sucedió “en defensa propia”
Otra visita importante que Clara recibe es la de su tía Nelly pues la
historia que ella le cuenta le cambia la perspectiva con que ve a su madre y al
mundo. Ella hasta este momento no sabe de la existencia de ningún familiar, ni
tampoco quien es su padre…al que nunca conoció. La tía Nelly le pide
disculpas por tan prolongada ausencia y le pide que le escuche por lo menos
la historia que tiene que contarle para ver si de alguna manera, Clara logra
entender la actitud indiferente de su madre. Nelly y Sofía eran gemelas, pero
al nacer Sofía su madre murió, echo que sirvió para que su padre la rechazara
siempre. Sofía crece en un mundo sin amor y escapa de la casa con
camionero… Jacinto.!
¡Lo más triste es que Nelly le confiesa que Jacinto es su verdadero padre!
Sola en su celda, Clara llora desconsolada, si alguien le hubiera contado esa
historia antes tal vez la situación seria diferente. … Tal vez hubiera tenido más
fuerzas para luchar contra Jacinto o por lo menos hubiera comprendido mas a
Su madre y acercarse a ella con un poco de amor.
Adela es una carcelera (policía) que toma especial interés en Clara, pues su
pasado tiene partes parecidos a los de… ella, como Clara, fue engañada por
un hombre, pero en este caso un comandante de la revolución sandinista, pues
en ese tiempo ella era guerrillera dedicada a la “causa” con todo empeño.
Adela se “caso” por las armas con este guerrillero que le prometo un amor
eterno, sin embargo cuando termino la guerra se dio cuenta que estaba casado
fruto de esta relación, Adela tiene una hija y una gran comprensión hacia otras
mujeres victimas de todo tipo de violencia.
Adela se convierte en una persona cómplice e indispensable en la vida de
Clara en la cárcel.
Clara esta sola en su celda, fuma nerviosa y el humo le trae recuerdos de su
niñez, de su madre, de Jacinto y del prostíbulo.
En su memoria Clara, vagamente recuerda a su madre, ella pequeña y su
padrastro Jacinto en el prostíbulo…la madre chinea a la niña, esta fumando,
se duerme, el cigarro le cae en la pelvis a la niña y el vestido toma fuego…
Jacinto desviste a la niña, le pone crema en su cuerpo.. pero aprovecha para
violarla, los gritos de la niña son confundidos con las quemaduras de su
cuerpo.
El prostíbulo esta lleno de clientes y prostitutas, el ambiente esta lleno de
humo y se oye música ranchera proveniente de una rokonola. Clara sobresale
por su belleza y sencillez. Morena su amiga y confidente no se aparta de ella y
vigila los pasos de Jacinto. En el centro Sofía, la madre de Clara, se carcajea
sin parar , es una risa casi a gritos con euforia producto de la mezcla del
alcohol y la coca.
En unos de esos intentos Sofía cae muerta, sin que nadie se percate, solo
Clara que la llora en silencio. En la vela Jacinto la lleva a su oficina y la viola.
De aquí en adelante, Clara se convierte “oficialmente” en mujer de Jacinto y
luego la prostituye con otros clientes.
En la cárcel, Ramiro llega con muchos periódicos, esta muy contento
todos los organismos la apoyan . Hasta la red de mujeres contra la violencia
esta con ella, la población esta con ella, hay euforia en el ambiente, hay que
aprovechar la situación y echarle la culpa a la madre, de todos modos esta
muerta.. Ramiro trata de tocarla y encuentra una reacción terrible en Clara
que se encuentra muy sensible. ¡Esta embarazada de su propio padre pro -
ducto de todo tipo de violaciones!
Clara es llevada a la enfermería donde pierde mucha sangre y aborta. En su
delirio confunde el presente con el pasado, la muerte de su madre se repite,
con una cara amarga sin su habitual sonrisa Jacinto y los clientes se defor-
man y giran alrededor, las risas se vuelven sonidos ensordecedoras, hasta
que la vemos sola caminando por las calles de León.
Es una tarde soleada, Clara sale a pasear por la ciudad y llega a un parque
lleno de niños y árboles, se ve feliz por primera vez, un niño se le acerca,
esta jugando el “cero escondido” tiene ganas de integrarse pero es rechazada
por las madres….
Sigue caminando y encuentra una iglesia, sale un aroma de incienso y se oye
Una música de órgano, entra en la iglesia y observa el coro cantando las
canciones de la Purísima.
Clara queda petrificada oyendo la música todos se van y queda ella sola, un
cura joven la ve y se acerca a ella. Platican mucho de su vida caminan por
toda la ciudad, el sacerdote le pide que deje esa vida, que no esta “obligada”
a llevar esa vida solo por nacer en ese ambiente y que el conoce un lugar en
Dolores donde unos sacerdotes le pueden ayudar mientras resuelve su vida.
Clara acepta y regresa al prostíbulo para recoger sus pocas pertenencias, al
llegar la espera Jacinto, borracho, la quiere poseer, ella se resiste, hay vio-
lencia… y al final el muere con un pica hielo clavada cerca del corazón.
Volvemos a la cárcel, Clara sigue en la enfermería tiene un sueño delirante
de ella con su mama felices en un campo floreado, juntas de la mano, felices.
Por fin se ha podido encontrar con su propia realidad, la de su madre y de
alguna manera lograr un poco de paz.
Mientras tanto un jurado la está declarando inocente de toda culpa pues
Jacinto muere en un forcejeo y se considera “en defensa propia”.
Ramiro el abogado lleva el control del juicio… A Ramiro lo conoce como cliente
en el prostíbulo cuando ambos son jóvenes. El papa de Ramiro quiere que este
se vuelva “macho” teniendo sexo con una prostituta y nada mejor que Clara
para el encuentro.Ya en el cuarto Ramiro le explica la situación, platican bailan
y nace entre ellos una amistad.
Ramiro esta estudiando leyes en León pero su pasión es la música y tiene un
conjunto donde toca el piano. Clara acude a un concierto del grupo de Ramiro,
en León donde tocan muchos grupos musicales de rock.
Por primera vez Clara se siente joven, integrada a un grupo y en una situación
libre de actuar y expresar sus sentimientos. Ramiro y sus amigos se van des –
pués del concierto a Poneloya una playa cerca de León y Clara experimenta
por primera vez lo que es tener una relación por amor.
En una fogata donde todos cantan y declaman poemas, Clara se entera que
Ramiro viajara fuera del país próximamente a terminar sus estudios.
Cuando Ramiro regresa graduado y conoce del caso de Clara a través de
los medios, se presenta en la cárcel y es así que logra una resolución favora -
ble para Clara. En los medios se ven entrevistas de todo tipo unos a favor y
otros en contra de la resolución, hay personas que piensan que fue un crimen
“ a sangre fría”, otros que “se lo merecía”
Dentro de todo el tumulto de personas, Ramiro responde de manera profesio-
nal todo lo conciérnete al caso, las leyes aplicadas, las pruebas de testigos y
sobre lo que vio Morena, donde queda claro que Jacinto se enterró el pica hielo
en el forcejeo.
En este momento Clara esta muy débil de salud, no tiene ganas de vivir, siente
que su vida se acaba, que llego a un final donde lo único importante es llegar a
un encuentro feliz con su madre. Reivindicar que su madre, Sofía, fue producto
de un engaño y que ella también fue parte de toda esta trama, le da un sentido
de libertad para asumir su propia vida y seguir adelante. Es en este momento
que Clara asume su responsabilidad ante los hechos, toma conciencia de su
pasado y perdona a su madre. Es el momento de la liberación , y asumir con
esperanza el futuro. Ramiro esta con ella y al darle la buena noticia en juicio,
le proporciona mas fuerzas para recuperarse.
Al final Clara sale de la cárcel donde la esperan sus amigos incluyendo a
Ramiro. Ella brinca los ladrillos de dos en dos como solía hacia hacerlo cuando
era una niña, de esta manera se mezclan otra vez imágenes del pasado con el
presente.
En esta película se muestra una situación real, que ocurre en todas partes del
mundo en este caso es en León, Nicaragua y los personajes actúan conforme
su naturaleza, pero es una historia que podría pasar en cualquier lugar, pues
en todos lados hay personas indefensas que son manipuladas, ya sea por
motivos económicos o emocionales. La situación es siempre la misma, meno-
res utilizados para satisfacer el deseo de otros y un aparato legislativo, que no
esta en función de los mas indefensos. En la vida siempre hay esperanza y
esta película da una, que a pesar de todo las personas tenemos la posibilidad
de salir delante de las circunstancias mas adversas.
Clara es la muestra viva de la sobre vivencia humana en las peores circunstancias
Clara, una muchacha de 18 años esta presa en una cárcel de León por el
presunto asesinato de Jacinto, su padrastro. Ella fue abusada sexualmente
desde los 6 años y forzada a la ejercer la prostitucion toda su juventud.
Desde la cárcel a través de “flash back” reflexiona sobre su vida, la responsa-
bilidad de su madre en el desamor y la indeferencia. En la posibilidad de que
ella haya sido la causante directamente de su suplicio, en la poca atención
que se dio y por dejar que las cosas pasaran de un modo repudiable para ella,
en su vida….piensa en Jacinto, de todas las veces que la violo, la intimido
y quito el sabor de su niñez. De todos los hombres que la usaron, del
ganadero que la quería como “hija”. Y de su misma culpabilidad, al no poder
oponerse a esa vida, al no poder enfrentar a su madre en la debilidad ante
Jacinto. Al sentirse inútil ante la decisión de declarase con “Locura Transitoria”
o enfrentar un pasado y un presente con valentía y sobre todo para demostrar
que si se puede denunciar a estos agresores y salir adelante y con la frente en
alto.
La película comienza con el final cuando la policía la lleva presa y
continuamente va cambiando del pasado al presente a través de flash back,
inducidos por medio de símbolos que unen y tejen la historia. Hay varios
elementos que se utilizan en la historia para que den pie a sus recuerdos, por
ejemplo, Clara siempre cuenta las regías del techo cuando ella esta siendo
violada por su padrastro ya en la cárcel ella también cuenta los barrotes de su
ventana.. Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco. Cuando sale del colegio en su niñez
cuenta los ladrillos blancos y los negros, teniendo cuidado de no pisar los
negros, al final de la película ella hace lo mismo, al salir de la cárcel inmedia-
tamente es atraída por los ladrillos de la acera en León donde pisa solo los
blancos evitando en todo momento tocar los negros.
Las cortinas también son un elemento que se utilizan en la película para unir el
pasado con el presente.
Al principio de la película se muestra una habitación con dos camas solo
separadas por una cortina transparente, en una duermen Jacinto y Sofía y en la
otra cama …Clara. Jacinto pasa de una cama a otra a través de la débil cortina,
que separa ambas camas.
También en la enfermería de la cárcel la cortina juega un papel importante para
los recuerdos de Clara cuando ella delira en la cama y confunde el movimiento
de la cortina que es real en ese momento con la cortina que dividía la cama de
ella y su mama.
Otro símbolo muy importante en la película es la “sangre” al comienzo, Clara
esta rodeada de sangre resultado de la muerte de Jacinto, cuando es llevada
a la cárcel quiere quitarse con rabia esta sangre pero le resulta imposible y se
desmaya, esta embarazada y después tiene un aborto donde también la san-
gre es parte de Jacinto pero por medio de su hijo. Se siente manchada, sucia
con la sangre de Jacinto que la persigue, aunque físicamente logre quitársela,
inconscientemente la siente impregnada en su piel es como un castigo que le
recuerda siempre a Jacinto.
Todos los símbolos se repiten tanto en el pasado como en el presente dándole
a la historia un sentido de redondez el comienzo se une con el final y viceversa
El presente se muestra vía conversaciones con su abogado y familiares que
la visitan en la cárcel y a través de ellos va hilando el rompecabezas de su vida
llegando a la conclusión que tanto ella como su madre han sido victimas de las
circunstancias, hay un culpable, Jacinto, pero también hay otros culpables y
victimas dentro de la historia.
Clara esta dispuesta a ser condenada injustamente y sufrir las consecuencias
de cárcel por el resto de su vida si con este acto logra ayudar a otras mujeres
que han sufrido la misma humillación o por lo menos salvar a una que este a
punto de ser violentada en su derechos más íntimos. Ella quiere demostrar que
lo mato con premeditación, que quiso vengarse de él por el daño irreparable en
su vida y siente que declararse con “ Locura transitoria ” le quitaría peso a algo
que considera como heroico. El problema esta en que mantener su posición la
lleva a la condena y no podría ayudar a otras mujeres como ella desea.
En este momento de la película, el caso de Clara se ha convertido en un tema
de discusión nacional. Gente de todo tipo opinan en los medios y es por esta
razón que se siente obliga a hacer “algo positivo” con su vida y dar ejemplo de
valentía, asumiendo la responsabilidad de la muerte de Jacinto.
En la prisión Clara recibe la visita de un abogado que resulta sorpresivamente
ser Ramiro, su amigo años otras. Ramiro quiere convencerla de que si quiere
ser un ejemplo no puede declararse culpable, pues de esta manera nadie se
atrevería a confrontar a su verdugo por lo que le sugiere la salida mas fácil,
declararse con “Locura Transitoria” , sin embargo ya al final de la película en
el juicio aparece Morena, su amiga y confidente en el prostíbulo.
Morena declara que ella vio todo lo ocurrido el día que murió Jacinto y que en
el forcejeo de ambos, el se enterró el pica hielo y que no fue Clara quien lo
mato que todo fue circunstancial. De esta manera Clara queda libre pues todo
sucedió “en defensa propia”
Otra visita importante que Clara recibe es la de su tía Nelly pues la
historia que ella le cuenta le cambia la perspectiva con que ve a su madre y al
mundo. Ella hasta este momento no sabe de la existencia de ningún familiar, ni
tampoco quien es su padre…al que nunca conoció. La tía Nelly le pide
disculpas por tan prolongada ausencia y le pide que le escuche por lo menos
la historia que tiene que contarle para ver si de alguna manera, Clara logra
entender la actitud indiferente de su madre. Nelly y Sofía eran gemelas, pero
al nacer Sofía su madre murió, echo que sirvió para que su padre la rechazara
siempre. Sofía crece en un mundo sin amor y escapa de la casa con
camionero… Jacinto.!
¡Lo más triste es que Nelly le confiesa que Jacinto es su verdadero padre!
Sola en su celda, Clara llora desconsolada, si alguien le hubiera contado esa
historia antes tal vez la situación seria diferente. … Tal vez hubiera tenido más
fuerzas para luchar contra Jacinto o por lo menos hubiera comprendido mas a
Su madre y acercarse a ella con un poco de amor.
Adela es una carcelera (policía) que toma especial interés en Clara, pues su
pasado tiene partes parecidos a los de… ella, como Clara, fue engañada por
un hombre, pero en este caso un comandante de la revolución sandinista, pues
en ese tiempo ella era guerrillera dedicada a la “causa” con todo empeño.
Adela se “caso” por las armas con este guerrillero que le prometo un amor
eterno, sin embargo cuando termino la guerra se dio cuenta que estaba casado
fruto de esta relación, Adela tiene una hija y una gran comprensión hacia otras
mujeres victimas de todo tipo de violencia.
Adela se convierte en una persona cómplice e indispensable en la vida de
Clara en la cárcel.
Clara esta sola en su celda, fuma nerviosa y el humo le trae recuerdos de su
niñez, de su madre, de Jacinto y del prostíbulo.
En su memoria Clara, vagamente recuerda a su madre, ella pequeña y su
padrastro Jacinto en el prostíbulo…la madre chinea a la niña, esta fumando,
se duerme, el cigarro le cae en la pelvis a la niña y el vestido toma fuego…
Jacinto desviste a la niña, le pone crema en su cuerpo.. pero aprovecha para
violarla, los gritos de la niña son confundidos con las quemaduras de su
cuerpo.
El prostíbulo esta lleno de clientes y prostitutas, el ambiente esta lleno de
humo y se oye música ranchera proveniente de una rokonola. Clara sobresale
por su belleza y sencillez. Morena su amiga y confidente no se aparta de ella y
vigila los pasos de Jacinto. En el centro Sofía, la madre de Clara, se carcajea
sin parar , es una risa casi a gritos con euforia producto de la mezcla del
alcohol y la coca.
En unos de esos intentos Sofía cae muerta, sin que nadie se percate, solo
Clara que la llora en silencio. En la vela Jacinto la lleva a su oficina y la viola.
De aquí en adelante, Clara se convierte “oficialmente” en mujer de Jacinto y
luego la prostituye con otros clientes.
En la cárcel, Ramiro llega con muchos periódicos, esta muy contento
todos los organismos la apoyan . Hasta la red de mujeres contra la violencia
esta con ella, la población esta con ella, hay euforia en el ambiente, hay que
aprovechar la situación y echarle la culpa a la madre, de todos modos esta
muerta.. Ramiro trata de tocarla y encuentra una reacción terrible en Clara
que se encuentra muy sensible. ¡Esta embarazada de su propio padre pro -
ducto de todo tipo de violaciones!
Clara es llevada a la enfermería donde pierde mucha sangre y aborta. En su
delirio confunde el presente con el pasado, la muerte de su madre se repite,
con una cara amarga sin su habitual sonrisa Jacinto y los clientes se defor-
man y giran alrededor, las risas se vuelven sonidos ensordecedoras, hasta
que la vemos sola caminando por las calles de León.
Es una tarde soleada, Clara sale a pasear por la ciudad y llega a un parque
lleno de niños y árboles, se ve feliz por primera vez, un niño se le acerca,
esta jugando el “cero escondido” tiene ganas de integrarse pero es rechazada
por las madres….
Sigue caminando y encuentra una iglesia, sale un aroma de incienso y se oye
Una música de órgano, entra en la iglesia y observa el coro cantando las
canciones de la Purísima.
Clara queda petrificada oyendo la música todos se van y queda ella sola, un
cura joven la ve y se acerca a ella. Platican mucho de su vida caminan por
toda la ciudad, el sacerdote le pide que deje esa vida, que no esta “obligada”
a llevar esa vida solo por nacer en ese ambiente y que el conoce un lugar en
Dolores donde unos sacerdotes le pueden ayudar mientras resuelve su vida.
Clara acepta y regresa al prostíbulo para recoger sus pocas pertenencias, al
llegar la espera Jacinto, borracho, la quiere poseer, ella se resiste, hay vio-
lencia… y al final el muere con un pica hielo clavada cerca del corazón.
Volvemos a la cárcel, Clara sigue en la enfermería tiene un sueño delirante
de ella con su mama felices en un campo floreado, juntas de la mano, felices.
Por fin se ha podido encontrar con su propia realidad, la de su madre y de
alguna manera lograr un poco de paz.
Mientras tanto un jurado la está declarando inocente de toda culpa pues
Jacinto muere en un forcejeo y se considera “en defensa propia”.
Ramiro el abogado lleva el control del juicio… A Ramiro lo conoce como cliente
en el prostíbulo cuando ambos son jóvenes. El papa de Ramiro quiere que este
se vuelva “macho” teniendo sexo con una prostituta y nada mejor que Clara
para el encuentro.Ya en el cuarto Ramiro le explica la situación, platican bailan
y nace entre ellos una amistad.
Ramiro esta estudiando leyes en León pero su pasión es la música y tiene un
